Gary Rayson has been enjoying family life in Karratha for 16 years.
The General Manager of Health and Safety at Sino Iron, Gary is a drive-in, drive-out worker — a change from the more common fly-in, fly-out model of employment.
For Gary, life in Karratha has given his family the opportunity to embrace an outdoor lifestyle and enjoy a wide range of activities as part of a close-knit community.
“There is so much to offer a family up here,” Mr Rayson says.
“Having the DIDO option means we can build a permanent home in Karratha.”
While Sino Iron is predominantly a FIFO operation, the project still plays an important role supporting the Karratha community, utilising local businesses and workers where possible.
“We have a lot of local contractors who work down on site and commute up and down most days,” Gary says.
